Brit-Kit for MSTS #2 Alco S1 These kits are designed to give you a resonable model that can be reskinned as you wish. You will find a pdf file with some instructions in the "Working files" folder. Dick Cowen richardjimc4@aol.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- CABVIEW by Dwight Mitchell SOUND SET by Mark Toland ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- January 2008 A big thank you to Richard Cowen for giving me permission to repaint his Alco S1. This locomotive represents a hypothetical early diesel for the AIS steelworks at Port Kembla. It has been assumed that AIS purchased five Alco S1 type diesel-electric Bo-Bo locomotives that had originally been built for a large mining company (that went broke before delivery from Alco) - AIS purchased them at a 'bargain' price. They were re-painted into AIS livery, and numbered DE1 to DE5. Road numbers DE1, DE3 and DE5 are supplied in this kit. (The original prototype diesel-electrics supplied to AIS, were built by Commonwealth Engineering, and were numbered D1 onwards. As there is so little life left in MSTS1 and the fact that I do not have any original Comeng plans or drawings to model these locos effectively, I decided to repaint the S1 switchers as being a reasonable representation of an early AIS diesel switcher). Suitable Consists to use with these locos are contained both herein, and in the appropriate wagon packs - in both cases the Consists will need to be copied into the MSTS 'Consists' Folder under Trains in the main MSTS folders. To use these Consists you will also need the 'AU_AIS_60t_Hoppers', 'AU_AIS_50t_Tripper_Hoppers', 'AU_AIS_Stock' and 'STEELWORKS-Stock' packs. In the 'Main Illawarra V3' route, I have included appropriate Paths to use these wagons with, and a document in the route - 'Guidelines for Realistic Traffic Workings for the Main Illawarra Route.doc' contains details of how these wagons were worked at the AIS Port Kembla steelworks.
