The following models are provided in this pack: - 1711 - as representative of the last days in NSWGR service in the late 1950's - 1709 - as representative in NSWGR Vintage Train service in the early 1960's ======================================== 2. Installation Notes ---------------------- Double click on the self installing EXE file and follow the instructions. The models will be automatically installed in a new folder << AU_nswgrZ17 >>. One consist (a light engine) has been installed in the Consists folder, for each individual locomotive. These locomotives sound best using the "2 Cylinder Generic Sound Set" by Stuart Williamson and have therefore been set up with these sounds in mind. You can download these sounds from http://msts.steam4me.net/sounds/index.html - 2cSndSetV1-1.ZIP or from from uktrainsim.com. These sounds come with an installer to make life as simple as possible. The Sound Set must be setup as "..\\..\\common.sound\\2cyl_generic\\2c-80b-ENG01.sms" in a Common Sound folder. PLEASE NOTE: that the 2-cylinder generic sound set also uses some sounds from the default Scotsman and 380 locos included with MSTS, additionally, the UK_shared sound folder must be present - accordingly these sound sets must be installed in your MSTS installation. This locomotive aliases to the original C30 cab from the C30 locomotive 4-6-4T #3112 available from the Steam4me site. This must be installed for these locos to work. Copy the Cabview folder from the AU_nswC30 folder and paste it as a new Cabview folder under << AU_nswgrZ17 >> To design additional consists of your own, use the Consist Editor. A tutorial for this may be found at http://www.railpage.org.au/steam4me/trainsim/ ============================================ 3. Prototype Notes -------------------- In 1887 twelve new 4-4-0 locomotives were built by Vulcan Foundry, originally classed as 373 class, later H class and in 1924 classed as Z17. In 1905-06 as the original boilers became life expired, they were rebuilt with new Belpaire boilers. During the 40's and 50's, as the boilers wore out they were progressively scrapped - 1711 lasting until the late 50's and 1709 being preserved, and frequently used for the Vintage Train. 1709 has carried a number of liveries during its preserved life - fully lined Dark Green, fully lined Carnation Red (not a prototypical colour) and fully lined Maroon.
